Documenting December - 2016 Edition

Last year, I attempted to make a traditional December Daily album. It was a success, but it was also extremely time consuming - even with all the prep work I did ahead of time!

This year, I definitely want to document the holidays (it's my daughter's first Christmas, after all) but I'm keeping things simple. Rather than make a mini album devoted to all things December, I'll just be incorporating a few holiday layouts and 8x10 pocket spreads into my daughter's 12x12 D-ring baby album.

Narrowing down a collection to work with was easy - Crate Paper's Snow & Cocoa line is adorable, and the designs are just perfect for documenting baby's first Christmas. Here's a peek at what I've done so far ...

I'm not sure how often I'll blog about my December projects, or if I'll even share my progress here at all - but if you're doing a December Daily album of some sort, I'd love to know so that I can visit your blog for inspiration!

My Girl

Hello again, scrappy friends! I'm back today to share yet another layout that I made for my daughter's baby album. I'm pretty sure 90% of my layouts for the next eighteen year or so will feature this cutie patoutie, so consider yourself warned ;)

This layout was inspired by a color challenge over on the Scrapbook Nerd forum. We were asked to use "fall colors" - red, blue, green, yellow and orange. I didn't manage to squeeze any orange on the page, but the other colors are all represented.

I used products from a variety of collections - Shine by Maggie Holmes, Cute Girl by Crate Paper, Serendipity by Dear Lizzy and Valentina by Bella Blvd. I love how it all came together!

Love You - A New Favorite

I've been scrapbooking for thirteen years now. I've made *A LOT* of layouts in that time - hundreds and hundreds of layouts. I've scrapbooked everything from my high school graduation to my wedding, but of all the pages I've made so far the layout I made last night might just be my favorite yet.

This layout was inspired by a sketch challenge over on the Scrapbook Nerd forum (you can see the sketch here). I used a combination of products from Crate Paper's Cute Girl, Dear Lizzy's Saturday and Cocoa Vanilla's Love Always collections. But what makes this layout my favorite isn't the design or the products ... it's the subject matter. I absolutely loved scrapbooking this photo of my daughter and I.

The journaling on the layout shares how appearances can be deceiving. I look calm and serene in the photo, but deep down I was feeling totally overwhelmed and completely out of my league with this whole parenting thing.

It was important for me to tell that story; to tell my daughter that even though I experienced a whirlwind of emotions as a new first-time mom, the emotion I felt the strongest was love.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I hope you all have a fabulous week xx
